BIOGRAPHY:
Michael Y. Bennett is an Associate Professor of English and Affiliated Faculty in Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater; he will also a Life Member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, where he will be a Visiting Fellow in 2020. He is the author or editor of eleven books, most of which are on either absurd drama, the philosophy of theatre, or Oscar Wilde. His authored books include Reassessing the Theatre of the Absurd (Palgrave Macmillan 2011); Words, Space, and the Audience: The Theatrical Tension between Empiricism and Rationalism (Palgrave Macmillan 2012); The Cambridge Introduction to Theatre and Literature of the Absurd (Cambridge University Press 2015); and Analytic Philosophy and the World of the Play (Routledge 2017). His current book, The Problems of Viewing Performance: Epistemology and Other Minds, will be published by Routledge in 2021.
