BIOGRAPHY:
Elizabeth Weigler received her PhD in Sociocultural Anthropology from University of California at Santa Barbara in September 2019. She earned an MA in Anthropology from UCSB in 2012, and BAs in History and Anthropology from Ripon College in 2010. Her research focuses on the public historical projects of Sikhs living in the United Kingdom, specifically the memory of the First World War, to understand ethnoreligious and diasporic identity formation, as well as the role of individual agency within processes of communal memorialization and civic engagement. Primarily an ethnographer, Dr. Weigler’s work spans heritage production and tourism, urban and online community formation, and affect. She works with several community-based outreach endeavors in the Sikh and Punjabi communities, and has articles in Brill’s Encyclopedia of Sikhism, vol. 1 and vol.2 (forthcoming)."
