BIOGRAPHY:

Emma Cassabaum is a PhD student in English at George Washington University seeking convergence between crip/queer scholarship and rural life. In addition to being a scholar of contemporary American literature, they are a poet and playwright. Their creative work and doctoral research are focused on interrogating the cultural configuration of rural spaces as wastelands antithetical to crip/queer life and exploring the possibilities for ‘rural optimisms’.
