BIOGRAPHY:
Jonah Norwitt is a research assistant in the Center on Labor, Human Services, and Population at the Urban Institute. His research focuses on the use of qualitative methods to evaluate issues related to child and family welfare. Through his work at Urban, he is committed to improving the impact and accessibility of social welfare programs. Before joining Urban, he was a research assistant in the University of Chicago Crown School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. His research centered around supporting African American fathers’ wellbeing, especially relating to mental health, food insecurity, and masculinity. In previous positions in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, Jonah focused on projects relating to child nutrition assistance in Connecticut schools and the unequal impacts of climate change on low-income Connecticut city neighborhoods. Jonah’s independent research has investigated reentry services’ provision of social support to formerly incarcerated individuals. Jonah holds a BA in sociology and political science from the University of Chicago.
