BIOGRAPHY:

Joanna Merwood-Salisbury is Professor of Architecture at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. An architectural historian specializing in nineteenth and early-twentieth-century architecture and urban design in the United States, she has lectured and published widely on the Chicago School of architecture, including Chicago 1890: The Skyscraper and the Modern City (University of Chicago Press, 2009). She has taught at Parsons School of Design, Bard College, the University of Illinois Chicago, the Pratt Institute and Barnard and Columbia Colleges. She is a former Book Review Editor (Americas) for the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians and member of the editorial board of AA Files.
