BIOGRAPHY:

Alessandro Pierattini is a scholar of Greek and Roman architecture whose work combines archaeology and the history of architecture, art, and construction. His current research focuses on the beginnings of Greek monumental architecture, and he is completing a monograph, Origins of Greek Temple Architecture, for Cambridge University Press. Pierattini received his Ph.D. in architectural history at La Sapienza University, Rome, and is an assistant professor at the University of Notre Dame. As a member of the University of Chicago excavation team at ancient Isthmia, he is also working on a monograph on the Archaic Temple of Poseidon.
