BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Gabriel Bakkum was born in Amsterdam in 1963. After graduating, he studied Classical Languages (Classics), first at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam (1980-1983), then at the University of Amsterdam (1983-1987), specializing in the languages of ancient Italy. He then embarked on his PhD research, first as a junior researcher, later as a associated researcher at the Department of Classics of the University of Amsterdam. This research was suspended from 1992 to 2007, and then resumed, resulting in his thesis The Latin Dialect of the Ager Faliscus in 2009. From 1995 onwards, he have worked mainly as a teacher, both at the University of Amsterdam (Department of Theology, 1995-1997) and in various institutes of secondary education in the Netherlands.
