BIOGRAPHY:

Marta García Morcillo is a Senior Lecturer in Ancient History at the University of Roehampton (London). Her main research revolves around ancient trade and the Roman economy, Roman financial history and law. She has worked in particular on the socio-economic impact of Roman auction sales, ancient markets and banking, and economic performance and mentalities during the late Republic and the Roman Principate. Her publications further include studies on patrimonial economies, luxury markets and commercial connectivity, as well as on the work of authors such as Cicero, Strabo, Pliny the Elder and Tertullian. Marta is currently working on a project devoted to Roman art markets.
