Professor of New Testament and Archaeology at Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, MO. Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge (2000). Author of Ancient Jewish and Christian Perceptions of Crucifixion (Mohr-Siebeck, 2008; reprint Baker, 2010); Philippians: Rejoicing and Thanksgiving (Christian Focus, 2012); and The Trial and Crucifixion of Jesus: Texts and Commentary (with Eckhard Schnabel, Mohr-Siebeck, 2015). Recent research focuses on enhancing appreciation of the New Testament via study of relevant Jewish and Graeco-Roman literature and through archaeological investigation. Director and curator of the W. H. Mare Institute for Biblical and Archaeological Studies on Covenant Seminary’s campus.
