BIOGRAPHY:

Mari Joerstad is Research Associate at the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University, North Carolina, where she works on Facing the Anthropocene, a project funded by the Henry Luce Foundation. She is originally from Norway and spent a decade in Canada, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in art & art history and political science, and an MA in religion. She completed a PhD in biblical studies at Duke University. Her thesis looked at texts in which mountains, trees, rivers, and other aspects of so-called inanimate nature participate as characters in the story.
