"Anthony Tribe is an independent scholar working in the field of South Asian Buddhism with a specialization in the history and development of tantric Buddhism. He received his doctorate in Indian Buddhism from the University of Oxford and formerly taught in the Asian Studies Program at the University of Montana, USA. His publications include articles on Mañjuśrī (see the OBO bibliography ‘Mañjuśrī’) and a chapter on tantric Buddhism in Buddhist Thought: A Complete Introduction to the Indian Tradition (Second edition, Routledge, 2012). At present he is preparing for publication an annotated translation and critical edition of chapters 1–5 of Vilāsavajra’s eighth century Sanskrit commentary on the [Mañjuśrī]nāmasaṃgīti. He is a fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society, and lives with his wife and a number of cats in Tucson, USA. "
