BIOGRAPHY:

Philip Slavin, Mellon scholar at the department of economics at McGill University in Montreal. He is working on late-medieval economic and environmental history of England, with a special emphasis on agrarian economy, food production, famine, diseases and climate. Slavin did his PhD (2008) at the University of Toronto; he then moved to Yale, where he was a postdoctoral associate in 2008-10. Having completed his postdoc there, he moved to McGill University, Montreal. He is an author of 10 articles and is currently working on a book about food provisioning of a late-medieval urban community.
