BIOGRAPHY:
'Neil Murphy is Associate Professor in History at Northumbria University. He is a historian of medieval France and his research focuses especially on the Valois monarchy. He has published two monographs on the manifestation of royal power in later medieval France: Ceremonial Entries, Urban Liberties and the Negotiation of Power in Valois France, 1328-1589 (Brill, 2016) and The Captivity of John II, 1356-60: The Royal Image in Later Medieval England and France (Palgrave, 2016).
