BIOGRAPHY:

Kristie A. Thomas, PhD, MSW, Associate Professor at Simmons College School of Social Work, has extensive practice, teaching, and research experience in the fields of intimate partner violence, homelessness, and service delivery for marginalized populations. Her research is applied, interdisciplinary, and community-based. Dr. Thomas co-founded the New England-based Domestic Violence Program Evaluation and Research Collaborative (DVPERC), which is comprised of over 15 domestic violence programs and a handful of researchers spanning social work, psychology, and medicine. One of DVPERCs many accomplishments includes the development of the Measure of Victim Empowerment Related to Safety (MOVERS), one of the only validated domestic violence outcome measures developed in collaboration with practitioners. She is a recent recipient of the National Institute of Health’s Health Disparities Loan Repayment Program, and the Simmons College Provost Award for Student-Centeredness in Graduate Teaching.
