Hilary Gatti was born and educated in Great Britain. She moved to Italy in 1961, and taught for many years in the Philosophy Faculty of the Università di Roma “La Sapienza”. Her work moves across the boundaries of renaissance literature, philosophy and science. Her many publications on Giordano Bruno include the volumes: The Renaissance Drama of Knowledge: Giordano Bruno in England, London, Routledge, 1989 [republished 2013]; Giordano Bruno and Renaissance Science, Ithaca, NY, Cornell University Press, 1999; Giordano Bruno, Philosopher of the Renaissance (ed.), London, Ashgate, 2002, and Essays on Giordano Bruno, Princeton and Oxford, Princeton University Press, 2011. She is a member of The British Society for the History of Philosophy and The Renaissance Society of America.
