BIOGRAPHY:
Prof. (Dr.) Amiya P. Sen specialises in the intellectual and cultural history of colonial Bengal. He has served the University of Delhi, Visva Bharati ( Santiniketan), and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, in various capacities and is now retired from active service. He has been Agatha Harrison Fellow and Sivdasani Fellow (both tenable at the University of Oxford), Fellow, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, and at the Centre for Contemporary Studies, Nehru Memorial Museum & Library, New Delhi. He is currently Hony. Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, Oxford, and edits Summerhill, the bi-annual journal of IIAS, Shimla. To date he has authored 15 books published by OUP, Penguin Viking, Primus, Permanent Black, IIAS Shimla and Orient Blackswan.
