BIOGRAPHY:

Noor van Brussel is an intersectional academic researcher with a focus on Indian narrative, Hindu goddess worship and regional religious practice in Kerala. After finishing her MA degree in Indian Languages and Cultures at Ghent University (Belgium), Noor started as a PhD candidate at that same university. She is currently working on a PhD dissertation dealing with the impact of context on narrative construction in the Bhadrakālīmāhātmya, a regional purāṇic text focusing on goddess Bhadrakāḷi from Kerala. Since 2016, Noor also works as a lecturer for the department of Languages and Cultures at Ghent University. She teaches and supports courses from BA to MA level on subjects such as Sanskrit, Prakrit, Gender and Diversity, and South Indian Narrative and History.
