BIOGRAPHY:
Deepra Dandekar works as a researcher at the Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient in Berlin on an independent, DFG-funded project on Muslim vernacular history in Modern India (Maharashtra). She has published on vernacular Christianity in Colonial India (Baba Padmanji: Vernacular Christianity in Colonial India, Routledge 2021) and Christian conversion (The Subhedar's Son: a narrative of Brahmin-Christian conversion from nineteenth century Maharashtra, Oxford University Press 2019), apart from various other themes that focus on religious history, gender, and migration in South Asia.
