BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Jean-François Gagné is a research fellow at the CÉRIUM, academic advisor, and lecturer at the University of Montreal, and director at large for the Canadian International Council. His research focuses on the role of opposition parties in competitive authoritarian regimes and the impact of constitutional manipulation on political stability in developing countries. He has published in academic journals and for university presses on related issues, as well as on natural resource governance and Southeast Asian politics. He was previously a political analyst at Export Development Canada and a research fellow at the Raoul-Dandurand Chair of Strategic and Diplomatic Studies.
