BIOGRAPHY:
Janet M. Fuller is a sociolinguist, discourse analyst and linguistic anthropologist with research interests in language ideologies and social identities, in particular in multilingual contexts. She has worked in the U.S. on German varieties and Spanish/English bilingualism, and in Germany on the roles of English and German in bilingual education and the broader society of Berlin. She is currently a Professor of Linguistic Anthropology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and is moving in July 2017 to a position as Professor of Language in Society in the Department of European Languages and Cultures at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. She has recently published, with Ronald Wardhaugh, the 7th edition of "An Introduction to Sociolinguistics".
