BIOGRAPHY:

Stephen Meyer is a Senior Research Associate at RMC Research with nearly 20 years of experience conducting research and evaluation in education.  Currently, Dr. Meyer serves as Director of Research and Evaluation for REL Central, overseeing development and implementation of studies being conducted in the 7-state region.  As part of REL Central, he also leads a cross-state Research Alliance focused on effective teacher preparation.  Dr. Meyer was Principal Investigator for a national impact study of a postsecondary academic program for offenders in state prisons that was designed to improve college access and persistence.  Dr. Meyer also directed evaluations of Learn and Serve programs in Michigan and Texas, focusing on the impact of service-learning on student achievement outcomes.  Before coming to RMC Research, Dr. Meyer was a statistical consultant for the Chicago Public Schools Academic Accountability Council and a senior research analyst for the Chapin Hall Center for Children at the University of Chicago.  He has published and presented in several peer-reviewed venues on topics including evaluation, service-learning, Title I programming, and postsecondary correctional education.  Dr. Meyer’s background includes training in quantitative and qualitative research, evaluation, and statistics.  Dr. Meyer received his PhD in Education-Measurement, Evaluation, and Statistical Analysis from the University of Chicago.
