BIOGRAPHY:

Julie is Adjunct Professor at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. She retired at the end 2016, although she continues to write and research as a retirement ‘hobby’. She is recognized as an international leader in early childhood education for sustainability (ECEfS), being one of the first to incorporate environmental/sustainability in early childhood teacher education courses. She has over 100 publications including academic papers, reports, and articles for the early childhood profession and general public. She sole-edited the first textbook on young children’s learning and EfS - Young Children and the Environment: Early Learning for Sustainability - aimed at early childhood initial teacher education with translations in Korean (1st edition) and Chinese (2nd edition). She is currently working with a colleague on a 3rd edition, due in 2023. Julie co-edited the first research text on ECEfS - Research in Early Childhood Education for Sustainability: International Perspectives and Provocations - published in 2014 with a 2nd volume published in 2020. She initiated the TransNational Dialogues in Research in ECEfS in 2010, which meets in combination with relevant international early childhood and environmental education conferences, and online during COVID.
