BIOGRAPHY:

Anne Acker is a full time independent researcher and historic keyboard specialist with undergraduate and graduate college degrees in mathematics and computer science. She performs professionally on modern piano, harpsichord, fortepiano, organ, hurdy gurdy, gittern and electronic instruments. A consultant, lecturer, researcher and writer about 18th, 19th and early 21st century keyboards, she builds, appraises, restores and decorates harpsichords, clavichords and pianos as well as doing collaborative research with The Piano Design Lab. She served as a Contributing and Senior Editor for the 2nd edition of the Grove Dictionary of Musical Instruments, responsible for stringed keyboard instruments, electronics and computer related and unusual items. She is a long time member of AMIS, HKSNA, the Galpin Society and PTG and has a large collection of keyboard and other instruments.
