BIOGRAPHY:

An accomplished music historian, Japanologist, and double bassist, Brooke McCorkle completed her PhD in musicology at the University of Pennsylvania in 2015. Her project "Searching for Wagner in Japan" examines the reception of Wagner's operas and their relevance to ideas of modernity and gender ideology in Japan over the course of the twentieth century. She has presented on Wagner and other opera topics locally and internationally. Brooke also has a strong interest in film music and has published several pieces on the topic.
