BIOGRAPHY:

Philip Vandermeer retired in November 2021 after 20 years at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he served as Head of the Music Library and Adjunct Associate Professor of Ethnomusicology. His research and teaching interests include music and ecology in the southern Appalachian mountains, commercial country music, and eighteenth century American music. He received a B.M. and M.S.L.S from the University of Tennessee, an M.A. from Binghamton University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. As of 2021 he has worked for 45 years in both public and academic libraries, and he is a past president of the Music Library Association.
