Alex W. Barker is director of the Museum of Art and Archaeology and of the Museum of Anthropology at the University of Missouri. He has previously served in curatorial and leadership positions at the Milwaukee Public Museum and the Dallas Museum of Natural History. A museum anthropologist and anthropological archaeologist, his recent books include Anthropological Ethics in Context: An Ongoing Dialogue (2016) and All the King's Horses: Essays on the Impact of Looting and the Illicit Antiquities Trade on Our Knowledge of the Past (2012). Barker is a graduate of the Getty’s Museum Leadership Institute, and served for four years on the federal Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act Review Committee. He is past president of the Council for Museum Anthropology and of the American Anthropological Association.
