BIOGRAPHY:
J. Sebastián Chávez Erazo is a recent graduate from Kenyon College where he majored in Spanish Area Studies with a Latino Studies Concentration and a Biology minor. His scholarship is primarily focused on Latin American Performance Art and Comparative Indigeneities, specifically drawing connections between Latin American and Indigenous artists who utilize the artform as acts of resistance and healing. He plans to pursue a graduate degree that bridges these two fields. He is a recipient of The Christopher E. Schmidt-Nowara Latino/a Studies Award at Kenyon College given annually for the best written, visual or exhibition project on the diverse experiences of people who trace their origins to the countries of Latin America and the Spanish Caribbean. He additionally received the Doris B. Crozier Award which recognizes the qualities of vision, responsibility, courage, and dedication to excellence and honors those who develop major changes for the betterment of the social and intellectual life of the student body at Kenyon College.
