BIOGRAPHY:
Santiago Muñoz Arbeláez is an Assistant Profesor of History at Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia) and cofounder of Neogranadina, a nonprofit devoted to digitizing endangered archives in Colombia and Latin America (http://neogranadina.org/en/). He received his Ph.D. in Latin American and Caribbean History from Yale University in 2018. His publications have concerned the interactions between Indians and empires in the early modern Atlantic world and are informed by scholarship on comparative frontiers, borderlands, agrarian studies, and the history of maps and books. His latest book is Costumbres en disputa. Los muiscas y el Imperio español en Ubaque, siglo XVI (Bogotá, Ediciones Uniandes, 2015).
