Jascha de Bloom is a PhD student in German linguistics at the University of Bremen. His research interests concern colonialism as a discursive formation as well as Western perceptions of places and space that manifest, inter alia, in colonial place names. His engagement as a research assistant in the working group German and Interdisciplinary Linguistics in Bremen has led Jascha de Bloom to research visits in Stockholm, Berlin and Oxford. His interest in spatio-linguistics derives from his academic background in geography and German philology.
