BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. Michelle Cannon is a Lecturer on the MA in Digital Media, Culture and Education at the UCL Knowledge Lab, Institute in Education, University of London. She is an executive member of the Media Education Association. She leads BA and MA modules on Moving Image Production in educational settings, and undertakes Masters dissertation supervision. Her research explores the relationships between theory and practice in the context of film and digital media production, pedagogy, and literacy. She has experience teaching in Spain, Italy, France and Rio de Janeiro, and has worked as a creative practitioner in school film and media production for 16 years in London schools. She is on the editorial board of a new journal entitled Film Education, and has published articles in specialist film and media education journals. Her recent publication - Digital Media in Education: teaching, learning and literacy practices with young learners was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2018. She has collaborated on numerous British Film Institute education programmes as well as related international research projects, and has presented and run workshops at film and media education conferences in the UK, Spain, Lithuania, the Czech Republic. the USA and Hong Kong.
