BIOGRAPHY:
Mark T. Gerges is an associate professor in the Department of Military History, US Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He received his B.A. in History and Military Studies from Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont, in 1984 and served twenty years in US Army armor units in Europe, the Middle East and the United States. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida where his dissertation was on the command and control of the British cavalry under the Duke of Wellington during the Peninsula War of 1808-1814. He has taught history at the United States Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He is working on a manuscript detailing the command and control issues of the British, Portuguese, and King’s German Legion cavalry under Wellington.
