"Graduated in Law Studies at Rome University ‘La Sapienza’ in 1961 with a degree thesis on *. Professor by contract to teach a course on the History of the Military Institutions at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Rome University ‘La Sapienza’, in 2009-2010. Since 2002 free assistant (‘cultore della materia’) at the course of Military History and, since 2008, at the course of Modern and Contemporary History (advanced) at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Rome University ‘La Sapienza’. Appointed by the Defense Department (Ministero della Difesa) permanent member of the consultant committee for the Italian Commission of Military History from 2004 to 2009. Member of the Comité International de Bibliographie Militaire (International Committee of Military Bibliography) from 1996 to 2005. Chairman of the Rome committee of the Institute for the History of Risorgimento from 1994 to 2005. Amongst others, his publications include: “La cavalleria di linea di Murat” (Rome, 1978) “L’esercito napoletano 1806-1815 – Fanteria di linea” (Milan, 1987) “Gli Albanesi nelle Forze Armate Italiane 1939-1943” (Rome, 2002; translated in Albanian in 2005) “Guida al Fondo Brigantaggio” (Rome, 2005) “La Polizia dell’Africa Italiana (1937-1945)” (Rome, 2009) He also co-authored a three volumes history of the Borbone’s Army from 1789 to 1861 and other six volumes, for a grand total of thirteen books, on the military history of Italy between the bottom half of Eighteenth Century and Restoration period published both by the Army Historical Branch in Rome (Ufficio Storico dell’Esercito) and by the Widerholdt Frères publishing house. He is the author of twenty-five entries published since 1999 in the “Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani” (Biographical Dictionary of the Italians), mostly concerning military related personalities. Other publications include some twenty odd essays on various themes of military history published in edited volumes and as part of historical conferences, plus articles and other publications published both in Italy and abroad.
