BIOGRAPHY:
Zhaklin Valerieva Yaneva is a PhD candidate in Political and Administrative Sciences and International Relations at the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology, Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) with a thesis related to the Arctic and its governance. She obtained her Master degree in International Law in 2014 with specialization in Public International Law from the Faculty of Law of the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) and a Bachelor degree in International Relations in 2013 from the Faculty of Law of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Bulgaria). Her main research interests are related to International Law; Law of the Sea; Arctic; peaceful settlement of conflicts; international relations; history of international relations, among others. Publications as coauthor with Elena Conde on the following topics: article on the EU’s Arctic Policy for Polar Science and a contribution for the collective work Global Challenges in the Arctic Region: Sovereignty, Environment and Geopolitical Balance on the Arctic outer continental shelf, among other forthcoming. Currently, participates in the Jean Monnet Project “The European Union and security: defense of common spaces and interests” at the Complutense University, co-financed by the ERASMUS+ Programme of the European Union.
