BIOGRAPHY:

Fabrizio Benedetti, MD, is Professor of Neurophysiology and Human Physiology at the University of Turin Medical School, Turin (Italy), and Director of the Center for Hypoxia at the Plateau Rosa Labs in Breuil-Cervinia (Italy) and Zermatt (Switzerland). He has been nominated member of The Academy of Europe and of the European Dana Alliance for the Brain. He identified some basic mechanisms of placebo responses across a variety of medical conditions, such as pain, movement disorders, the endocrine system, and physical performance. Recent books: Placebo Effects (Oxford, 2nd Edition, 2014), The Patient’s Brain (Oxford 2010), Placebo (Springer 2014). Recent awards: British Medical Association Book Award in 2009, American Seymour Solomon Award in 2012, American William S. Kroger Award in 2015, European EFIC-IBSA Award in 2015.
