BIOGRAPHY:
Elisa Frisaldi, PhD, is a human geneticist and a postdoctoral fellow in neuroscience at the Department of Neuroscience of the University of Turin Medical School, Italy. She also earned the SISSA Master in Science Communication, Trieste, Italy. Her research focuses on higher cognitive functions, especially those taking part in the placebo response in pain, Parkinson’s disease and Myasthenia gravis. Her work places particular emphasis on the integration between the neurobiological mechanisms of the placebo effect and their clinical applications and ethical/social implications. In 2015, she received the American William S. Kroger Award, the Best Presentation Award at the 9th Congress of the European Pain Federation, the European EFIC-IBSA Award, and in 2016 she was included in the Young Against Pain Italian group, which supports the best young Italian pain researchers.
