BIOGRAPHY:
Diletta Barbiani received her MSc in Cognitive Psychology at the University of Bologna, Italy, and is now a PhD candidate at the Department of Neuroscience of the University of Turin Medical School, Italy. The research she is focusing on deals with higher cognitive functions, such as expectations and beliefs, particularly those taking part in the placebo response in Parkinson’s disease and performance in extreme environments. Her interest mainly centers on the integration between neurobiological mechanisms underlying the placebo effect and their clinical and social applications. In 2017, she received both the Best Paper Award and the Best Presentation Award at the 1st Conference of the Society for Interdisciplinary Placebo Studies.
