BIOGRAPHY:

Don Seeman is Associate Professor in the Department of Religion and the Tam Institute for Jewish Studies at Emory University. His scholarship focuses on the anthropology of religion (particularly the ethnography of religious experience) and Jewish thought and mysticism (including the thought of Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook!). He recently held a Research Grant from the Social Science Research Council's "New Directions in the Study of Prayer Initiative." His coedited volume, Don Seeman, Daniel Reiser and Ariel Evan Mayse, Hasidism, Renewal and Suffering: The Spiritual Legacy of R. Kalonymos Shapira, is forthcoming at SUNY Press.
