BIOGRAPHY:

"Dr Gillian Hughes is currently a Visiting Scholar of the University of Edinburgh. Her research interests are primarily, though not exclusively, in Scottish Literature of the Romantic period and in magazine culture. She is a former general editor of the Stirling/South Carolina Research Edition of the Collected Works of James Hogg, for which she has edited or co-edited nine volumes, including a three-volume edition of ‘The Collected Letters of James Hogg’ (2004-08), and is the author of the biography ‘James Hogg: A Life’ (2007). She is currently an advisory editor for the New Edinburgh Edition of the Works of Robert Louis Stevenson (for which she is editing ‘Weir of Hermiston’), and for the projected Edinburgh Edition of Walter Scott’s poetry (for which she hopes to edit ‘The Lay of the Last Minstrel’ and to co-edit a volume of Scott’s shorter poems).
