BIOGRAPHY:

Bill Nasson is Emeritus Professor in history at the University of Stellenbosch University, and is a Fellow of the Stellenbosch Institute of Advanced Study. An award-winning historical author and reviewer, his books include South Africa at War 1939-1945 (2012); The War Comes Home: Women and Families in the Anglo-Boer War (2013) (co-editor); WW1 and the People of South Africa (2014); History Matters: Selected Writings 1970-2016 (2016) and Illuminating Lives: Biographies of Fascinating People from South African History (2018) (co-editor). He was a co-editor of The Journal of African History, an editor of The Cambridge History of South Africa, and is currently African co-editor of 1914-1918 Online, the leading global encyclopaedia of the First World War (University of Berlin). He has been a judge of South Africa’s major non-fiction literary awards in both English and Afrikaans.
