BIOGRAPHY:

Emily Kaufman is a PhD Candidate in Geography at the University of Kentucky. Her research broadly examines the everyday impacts of state securitization, from welfare to policing. Supported by the National Science Foundation, her dissertation focuses on children’s adaptations and contestations of policing. In particular, she examines racial, spatial, and biometric policing, and the ways technology mediates embodied interactions between police and the policed.
