BIOGRAPHY:

Verónica E. Betancourt is a Ph.D. candidate in the Arts Administration, Education, and Policy department at The Ohio State University, where she also received her M.A. She holds a B.A. in Art History from Swarthmore College and worked in modern and contemporary art at the National Gallery of Art in D.C. before her graduate studies. Her development has been supported by the Smithsonian Latino Center, when she was selected as a 2013 Latino Museum Studies Program fellow to assist the National Portrait Gallery in its Latina/o visitor engagement efforts. Her research interests include the experiences of Latina/o visitors to encyclopedic art museums, the history and politics of Latino museums, and writing pedagogy. Recent publications include "Engaging Latino Audiences: Visitor Studies in Practice at the Denver Art Museum," a chapter in Multiculturalism in Art Museums Today.
