BIOGRAPHY:

Luis Loya García holds a PhD in Literary Studies and Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. His research considers the sociolinguistic contact zones and borderlands between Mexico, the US and Canada. He holds an MA in Hispanic Studies from Western Michigan University and an MA in <i>Littératures francophones et résonances médiatiques</i> from Concordia University. He has published articles concerning language pedagogy, translation, popular culture, education, literature and humor. Currently, he’s investigating Frañol: a crosspollination of Spanish and French particular to the Latino population of Francophone Canada. He teaches language and culture at Champlain College and Adult Literacy at English Montreal School Board.
