BIOGRAPHY:

Petra Rivera-Rideau is Assistant Professor of American Studies at Wellesley College. She previously taught at the University of Richmond and Virginia Tech. Rivera-Rideau received her Ph.D. in African Diaspora Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. She has received funding for her research from the Ford Fellowship, the Social Science Research Council, and the Center for Puerto Rican Studies (Hunter College). Rivera-Rideau is the author of Remixing Reggaetón: The Cultural Politics of Race in Puerto Rico (Duke University Press, 2015), and co-editor with Jennifer A. Jones and Tianna S. Paschel of Afro-Latin@s in Movement: Critical Approaches to Blackness and Transnationalism in the Americas (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016).
