BIOGRAPHY:

Evan Nicoll-Johnson is a PhD student in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received his MA from the University of Southern California, and BA from Occidental College. He is studying early medieval Chinese literature and culture, with research interests that include the poetry and prose of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, religious literature, and the history of the book. Currently, he is working on a dissertation that discusses the relationship among bibliographic methods, theories of genre, and the production of textual knowledge.
