BIOGRAPHY:
Vaughan Hart is Professor of Architecture and a member of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Architecture (CASA) at the University of Bath. In 1994 he published Art and Magic in the Court of the Stuarts with Routledge. He is the co-translator (with Peter Hicks) of the architectural treatises of Sebastiano Serlio, as well as the two guidebooks to Rome published by Andrea Palladio. These works have in turn been translated into Chinese and Japanese. He is the author of monographs including Nicholas Hawksmoor: Rebuilding Ancient Wonders (2002, the winner of the 2003 Historians of British Art prize for best book), Sir John Vanbrugh: Storyteller in Stone (2008) and Inigo Jones: The Architect of Kings (2011), all published by Yale University Press. His most recent book is Sansovino’s Venice (2017), also published by Yale UP.
